The Opportunity
pro is seeking an experienced Night Security Officer to provide a broad range of security services to our students and staff during outdoor education programs being held at our Outdoor Education Centre “Googa” in the Blackbutt Ranges of Queensland. This is a residential position with accommodation provided on-site.
The Place
Googa is a former forestry camp set in the Blackbutt Ranges, approximately two hours from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The closest town is Blackbutt (approximately 9 km), with the closest city being Toowoomba (approximately 90 km). Googa has a lease over six hectares of land adjacent to a further 120 hectares owned and managed by Googa. Googa is in the process of expanding its operation with the development of another campus on this land. The centre also has access to large areas of State Forest and private land for hiking and camping.
Googa Outdoor Education & Retreat Centre (“Googa”) operates as a partnership of schools and colleges of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District. The owner schools are pro, Rothwell & Caboolture, Grace Lutheran Primary School, Clontarf and Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Noosa.
Facilities at the camp are deliberately simple. Googa runs programs of various lengths for primary and secondary students however the majority of the year is programmed with four-week experiences for Year 9 or Year 10 students.

The Role
Ensure security and safety to all people and property during the hours of responsibility. To monitor and ensure all students are safe and well at all times. Duties include:
> A focus on security concerns, student misbehaviour, student pastoral concerns and incidents of alarm.
> Ensure the camp is secure at all times.
> Perform scheduled and random checks across the student accommodation areas during the late evening and early morning hours.
> Patrol around the buildings close to and adjacent to the student sleeping areas as appropriate.
> Ensure that all students remain and sleep in their assigned sleeping areas at all times.
> Professionally manage any incidents of concern, calling upon other residential senior staff for support.
> Utilise sound behavioural techniques in situations of misbehaviour.
> Utilise sound pastoral care techniques in applicable situations.
> Coordinate any crisis, incident or accident ensuring correct communication with emergency response agencies as appropriate.
> Be responsible, in conjunction with the most senior residential staff member on site at the time, communicate as required to parents and Senior Lutheran Education leaders during times of emergency.
> Coordinate with management staff to ensure visitors and vendors on site are documented and correct ID processes adhered to.
Qualifications, Certifications and Work-related Experience:
* Security or similar experience preferred.
* Working with Children accreditation (Blue Card) or ability to obtain this accreditation.
* Must be over 21 years of age
* Diploma qualification in related field preferred
* Current First Aid/CPR (Remote First Aide desirable)
* Current Driver's License (manual)
* Effective communication and high level of interpersonal skills.
* Ability to show initiative and work as a team member.
* Able to execute essential functions under pressure
* Willingness to reside on camp
